Jonathan Nel and his Three Skulls

Jonathan Nel is the mastermind behind the works at The Three Skulls Brewery. Jonathan worked at SAB for Six years so he is no stranger to the world of beer and all the workings around it, especially when it came to his Brand and his Logo. He started from a very basic background in brewing by starting with a DIY homebrew Coopers kit that he got for Christmas and then went on to a BIAB (Brew in a bag). Now he owns, runs, cleans and restocks his one man show brewery.

The Blonde Ale, Better known as Gravedigger, is a very fruity and flavourful, almost like a Belgian styled ale. it sits at a respectable 4.5% and this is great because it gives you more time and more beers to really enjoy and grasp the flavour of the beer and appreciate the beer more. I found this beer very similar to a witbier or weissbier but its flavours work better than you could ever imagine. This beer will definitely open your minds. The beer has a very nice mouth feel, the only way to describe it is, firm, but gentle. The tastes and notes do linger a little longer than normal which I find is beautiful and gives the beer a uniqueness. overall i really "Dig" this beer. (Pun intended) Three Skulls Brewery has two beers (one beer short of coincidence).

I unfortunately haven't had the privilege yet of tasting the Banshee, a lovely Irish Read ale. But I have the highest of hopes for this beer. luckily for us normal folk the Gravedigger has been bottled and is being stoked in all decent and reliable bottle stores, the definite stockist would be Bootleggers in Fourways. Jonathan did say they had tweaked the labels making sure all the necessary information was on it and they are doing some really cool promo work in the stores for the launch. The beers will be sold in a heavenly 12 pack so more craft for your drinking pleasure. unfortunately the site for three skulls is a bit buggy at the moment because of the biggest knobs in the universe, hackers, worked their Douche-baggery, but Jonathan did say he is working hard to get the site back up and running but with beer like his I don't blame him if it takes longer!

Give the sight a visit and definitely get your hands on these beers!! www.threeskulls.co.za

Oskar
